About this Event
In this class you will learn about Gun Safety, Pistol Operation, Ammunition Types, Loading & Unloading, Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting, Shooting Positions, Live Fire, and Safe Storage. This class is the first in a series of NRA courses that will systematically advance your proficiency in using your firearm to as advanced a degree you desire. While it is an absolute must for new gun owners it will benefit anyone who has never had formal training. The length of this class will vary between 6 and 8 hours depending on number of students, questions asked, and the amount of time spent on the range. In some cases, it can even exceed 8 hours. If you have a time restriction due to a baby sitter or some other commitment, please let us know ahead of time so we can try to accomodate you. It is recommended you bring at least 200 rounds of factory ammunition for your gun. Even if you do not own a firearm, please bring 200 rounds of 9mm Luger sometimes called 9mm Parabellum or 9x19. You can also bring smaller calibers such as .380ACP or even .22LR if you would like a softer, less snappy shooting experience. If you are not bringing a firearm but only ammunition, please let us know ahead of time. Depending on weather conditions, we may use our private range in Nixa or the pubic range at Bass Pro. If you purchase a standard enrollment then any range fees incurred will be your responsibility. Typically, these range fees are $10 per half hour. There are no range fees at our private range. It is also recommended you bring hearing and eye protection however it can be supplied at range if you do not own any yet. Upon completion, your NRA certificate will be emailed to you unless you opt for a printed copy to be mailed.There is an eatery approximately 2 blocks from our facility and several restaurants at Bass Pro but feel free to bring your own lunk, snack or non-alcoholic beverage.
