>Speedway, IN, is a small town just west of downtown Indianapolis. In addition to being home to the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the town also has a charming Main Street.>Bring your own bike or rent one from the Pacers Bikeshare. We’ll meet at 2:00pm at Lugar Plaza in Indianapolis (200 E. Washington Street) and enjoy a social-paced bike ride out to Speedway. The route will be mainly the paved B&O Rail Trail, with short sections along the Cultural Trail and Michigan Street (which has dedicated bike lanes).
>Once in Speedway, we’ll break for refreshments & shopping; suggested places are: The Spark Coffee, Fundae’s Ice Cream, Daredevil Brewing, & Big Woods. After a short break, we’ll return via the same route. Round trip mileage will be approximately 12 miles.
>If renting a bike from Pacers Bikeshare (https://pacersbikeshare.org/), it’s suggested that you download the app ahead of time and use it to locate a bike near where you’re staying. There is a Bikeshare station at Lugar Plaza, but there’s no guarantee there will be bikes available at that time. Cost: $2 to check the bike out and $0.20/minute to ride, so $26 for the entire outing.
