Patient Handling Facilitating Normal Movement
Effective and safe patient handling techniques should support a client-centric model of care. By considering the client’s typical patterns of movement we are able to provide sufficient support to encourage participation in the movement, whilst not overcompensating to the detriment of client function or caregiver safety.
Analysis of normal movement, demonstrate appropriate techniques for varied levels of ability and look at the latest evidence on patient handling programs. This session is both theoretical and practical to ensure most effective learning and development of moving and handling skills.
Evidence-Based Pressure Care Systems
With limited direct evidence and guidelines regarding the use of reactive and powered mattresses, it is essential we understand each component of the support surface to establish objective criteria to compare similar systems. Utilising evidence on the engineering, design and mechanism of mattress systems empowers us with the knowledge to ensure the best clinical outcomes are achieved.
