About this Event
Welcome to November's Palestine Film Night at the Bromley by Bow Centre
Join us for a screening of Voices from Gaza followed by a panel discussion with Antonia Caccia the film's director and Dr Khaled Dawas (Consultant Surgeon (UCLH) & Chair of the Hanoon Foundation, who's been on emergency medical missions to Gaza and other speakers. Chaired by Dr Manal Massalha: Sociologist/ethnographer & social documentary photographer.
Voices from Gaza, Antonia Caccia’s and Maysoon Pachachi’s 1989 documentary about the First Intifada, was the first feature length documentary to be made after the outbreak of the uprising in Gaza in 1987.
Adopting a totally different style, the documentary features Gazan men, women and children reflecting on their experiences in their own words. It documents both the consequences of living under Israeli occupation, including curfews and patrols, and also explores the popular resistance committees that emerged to provide alternative services.
Please note, ticket price only covers the cost of putting on the evening, please donate to the Hanoon Foundation's work training medical staff in Gaza using this link https://www.kindlink.com/fundraising/The-Hanoon-Foundation/filmscreenings
