ARTIST BIOS:
LouSea is a full-time mixed media artist from Lafayette, La. Her body of work digs deeply into nature inspired art based in self-love. She dabbles in alternative photographic processes, graphic design, machine and hand embroidery, painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, photography, filmmaking, and is always eager to mesh them together and learn more. When she's not creating art, she is hosting creative workshops and teaching art classes at local schools through the Pace program.
Macie Menard is a mixed media artist born and raised in Lafayette, LA. Their creative journey has taught them the importance of flowing in creativity as opposed to forcing creation. They find inspiration in nature, travel, movement, life experience, and (most importantly) their intuition. In their time as a graphic designer, they felt their creative flame was smothered by deadlines. Having to work within the confines of branding and marketing strategies dampened their creative inspiration. In an effort to rekindle their creative flame, they put the laptop aside and dove into the art of analog collage. After some time, they started an Instagram account in 2020 under the artist name Kid Cuti✂️. They continue to explore making art with found materials and embracing being a slow maker.
Jack Budd (they/them), multi disciplinary artist, was born and raised in the Cajun Country of Lafayette, Louisiana and graduated from the University of Louisiana’s Visual Arts program with a concentration in Painting and Printmaking. Budd’s achievements include permanent pieces and installations in the University of Louisiana’s Marais Press Collection and Bottle Art Loft Apartments as well as being a participating artist in Lafayette’s Monthly Art Walk. Budd has also been published by the SouthWestern Review, a University of Louisiana contemporary periodical, on the cover and as a featured artist. With work examining the human identity in its place in both natural and divine existence, iconography that tends to work its way into Budd’s symbolism evokes cosmic, religious, magical imagery paired with fauna and flora which express scientific examples of hermaphroditism, such as slugs and roses. Other themes in Budd’s work include daydreaming, imagination work, resting, fetishism, and anti-capitalism.
ProjectSpace Residency is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, as administered by the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment of the Arts. Marketing support is provided by LCVC through the Lafayette Visitors Enterprise Fund.
