The Nova Singers will join the Florida Singing Sons for a concert series celebrating the 50th anniversary of both choral groups.

The two groups will join to perform John Rutter's Mass of the Children, a deeply personal work the composer wrote after the tragic death of his 19-year-old son in an accident. Using the structure of the Catholic Mass, the harmonic work follows the course of a day, from waking to sleeping.

Each group will also perform selections from their 50th anniversary repertoire, from Broadway to spirituals to contemporary anthems.

Nova Singers, under the direction of Chuck Stanley, and the Florida Singing Sons, under the direction of Daniel Bates, will be accompanied by pianist Anthony Ciotti and other instrumentalists.

The concert will be performed three times, in three different venues:

March 13, 8 p.m. Sunshine Cathedral, 1480 SW Ninth Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315

March 15, 4 p.m. Christ Church, 4845 NE 25th Ave., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308

March 17, 7:30 p.m. St. Gregory Catholic Church, 200 N. University Drive, Plantation, FL 33324

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Children 12 and younger, plus students any age with school ID, are admitted free.

Advance tickets will available at https://tinyurl.com/NovaSons26.

The Nova Singers is Nova Southeastern University’s community chorus, whose members range from Nova undergraduate students to senior members of the local community.
