Join us for a free, three-hour professional development workshop designed for therapists, body workers, yoga instructors, and anyone who works with trauma. This workshop introduces the principles and practices of Somatic Experiencing® and how they are especially effective in supporting survivors of natural disasters such as tornadoes and floods.
Participants will explore how overwhelming environmental events disrupt the nervous system’s regulation and how body-based interventions can help restore a sense of safety, agency, and coherence. The workshop combines didactic teaching, experiential dyads, and structured small group practice.
Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
This event is partially hybrid. Larry Iannotti will teach the first portion of the workshop live via Zoom, and an onsite team of experienced SE™ practitioners will be in person to guide attendees and support learning.
What to Expect:
• Didactic teaching and group exercises in the first half
• Small group practice sessions led by local Somatic Experiencing® professionals in the second half
• A detailed agenda and handouts provided in advance
Please note: This workshop will not be recorded.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
• Understand the neurophysiological impact of natural disasters through the lens of Somatic Experiencing
• Identify common somatic presentations of trauma related to environmental catastrophe
• Apply core SE techniques such as tracking, titration, pendulation, and resource building
• Facilitate embodied presence and nervous system regulation in crisis and post-crisis work
• Practice short, effective SE-informed interventions within their scope of practice
