About this Event
Dragon boat racing is an exciting team sport, originating in China over 2000 years ago. Up to 20 paddlers use a single-blade paddle to power boats through the water. The boat is steered by a helm, and a drummer beats in time to the paddlers.
What to expect from our open day
You will receive land-based instruction before spending some time on the water.
We will take you through some drills, as well as going for some short distance paddles. You will receive coaching, and the crew will be around to answer any of your questions.
We will provide you with a paddle and a buoyancy aid. Wear quick-dry clothes and trainers or water shoes. You may also wish to bring a towel and a change of clothes.
There will be the opportunity to speak to crew about the sport.
