We Need Your Help.As our community has seen time and time again, when social supports and human rights are threatened, we are more at risk and our ability to make our own decisions is compromised.
How we care for our community, our family and our friends, is completely dependent on the support and goodwill of people like you.
The LNP government’s proposed legislative and policy agenda directly impacts a broad cross-section of our community. With a policy agenda including:
• the repeal of the Path to Treaty Act
• the introduction of Adult Time for Adult Crime
• concerns for Women’s rights
• concerns regarding LGBTIQA+ community equity
• concerns for the Arts
• concerns for workers rights
• concerns for the environment
The LNP have shown they intend to serve their interests and their interests alone.
Human rights in Australia are important. They should not be undermined or ignored.
Human rights recognise the inherent value of each person, regardless of background, where we live, what we look like, what we think or what we believe.
Human rights are enshrined in our democracy and are based on principles of dignity, equality and mutual respect, which are shared across cultures, religions and philosophies. They are about being treated fairly, treating others fairly and having the ability to make genuine choices in our daily lives.
Respect for human rights is the cornerstone of strong communities in which everyone can make a contribution and feel included.
In the face of threats to human rights and in the context of undermining democratic process, we must join together to hold the LNP government to account.
We are asking you to join over 7,000 people who have already signed the petition supporting the Path to Treaty, by joining us at 8.30am Tuesday, 26 November 2024, as we gather at Queensland’s Parliament House to voice our concerns over decisions made against the interests of community and without any engagement.
We will gather on the first parliamentary day of the new term of government to show the LNP that nothing should be decided about us without us.
We call on the government to sit down with a broad collective table of stakeholders to have a conversation about the urgent need to listen and respect a community that is feeling extremely vulnerable.
If you are a concerned individual or group please come along.
If you are a concerned community group please share this event with your members and consider writing a public statement of concern.
