Peter and the Wolf, Alice in Wonderland, and more -- these are Not Your Mother's fairy tales! Concert by Ad Hoc - a classical music group dedicated to creative, inclusive concert programming.
Bring mom to ARTISANworks, grab a drink from the cash bar by Madeline's Catering, and enjoy a one-hour concert with these highlights:
Peter and the Wolf, by Sergei Prokofiev, narrated by local artist Angel Rodriguez. It's the beloved classic, told in grown-up style.
Haddock's Eyes, by David del Tredici. Text from Lewis Carroll's Alice and Wonderland, sung by soprano Katriana Kirby-Kopczynski, set to the wild music of David del Tredici, one of classical music's first openly gay composers.
Suite Symphonique, by Jeanne Leleu. This whimsical and extraordinarily rare piece was composed by the third woman to win the prestigious Prix de Rome composition award in 1923.
Tickets $10-20. U of R Students free with ID.
Join us on May 12th, 3:30, at ARTISANworks. These aren't your mothers' fairy tales!
(Please note: while there will be no explicitly adult themes in this performance, it is not intended for children. Please bring the whole family to our free performance of Peter and the Wolf at the Harley School on May 4th. )
This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of The Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts and supported in part by The Institute for Music Leadership at the Eastman School of Music with fundingsupport by the Paul R.
