About this Event
This month’s session is Kids on Bikes. Loosely based on Stranger Things (and other stories where a group of kids discover something awesome) this system asks players to explore the mysteries terrorising their back water American Town. Think those 80s movies you grew up with!
Kids on Bikes is a simple system utilising six stats: Brains, Brawn, Fight, Flight, Charm and Grit which is assigned its own die, with the larger dice correlating to their stronger abilities. A simple-to-learn system that is innovative in its ability to tell exciting and thrilling stories.
This game takes place in Oak Harbor- a small Pacific Northwest town about a hundred miles north of Seattle. The teenagers there spend their summers swimming, fishing, and boating out to one of the hundreds of tiny islands that litter the coast. A group of teenagers huddle in their cozy hangout. Suddenly, their CB radio crackles to life. Their eccentric and adventurous friend, Jake Samson, his voice bursting with excitement and fear, claims to have unearthed the lair of the legendary Goblin-Thing on nearby Sitka Island. But before he can reveal more, the radio goes dead with a horrible scream. To save their friend, the investigators must sail to the island…
It will be presumed all players are new to the TTRPG system and the rules will be introduced before play. All participants will be sent a quick start guide in advance explaining the rules of the system in an easy to learn format. Pre-made characters will be provided.
Warning this game may include themes of:
- Death/ Gore/ Horror
- Violence to children
- Abuse from a parental figure
Although it was prevalent in 1980s America we will not be discussing issues related to racism, homosexuality or sexism. Discussion of these issues will be considered inappropriate and may result in your removal from the premises.
A safeguarding system will be in place that players can use, without judgment, to pause and redirect play during the game.
