About this Event
Buddhist ethics is not about conforming to a set of conventions: not about ‘being good’ in order to gain material, social or religious rewards. Instead, living ethically springs from the awareness that other people are essentially no different from us. It is therefore both an expression of, and a means of cultivating, positive emotions like friendliness, well-wishing and compassion.
The aim of this course is not to explain the nature or scope or theory or history of Buddhist ethics, but to invite course participants to take on an active and effective ethical practice that will change their life.
This course begins on the 28th October and will meet every Monday for 7 weeks.
For the course, we ask for a non-refundable deposit of £25 at the point when you book to secure your place. We suggest a total payment of £90 or a concessionary rate of £60 for the whole course. This additional cost is payable at the centre. However, we don't want anyone to feel excluded from taking part if that is too much, so please feel free just to pay the deposit in the first instance, and you can then talk to Akasharaja, the course leader, and agree on a reduced rate ([email protected]).
