Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror — A Christmas Horror Night Experience with Xander Armstrong
23 December • Darlington Music Forum Centre • 8:00pm–9:30pm
Celebrate the tradition of a pre-Christmas horror film with Xander Armstrong, acclaimed composer, instrumentalist, and theatre creator, in a one-night-only Christmas Horror Night Experience. Witness F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent masterpiece Nosferatu like never before, transformed by Xander’s original, experimental sound score into a living ritual of sound, shadow, and cinematic tension.
Xander’s performance incorporates percussion and experimental instruments — from Arabic instruments to early Baroque sounds — seamlessly woven into a contemporary classical score. This rich, multi-layered soundscape creates a real-life shiver while you watch, immersing audiences fully in the haunting world of Count Orlok.
Nosferatu is produced by Cougar Nan Lang, who often writes scripts and directs theatrical works. He has carefully curated the song repertoire, maliciously matching each piece to the film’s scenes, creating a chilling synergy between music and imagery. Cougar and Xander also have exciting new projects coming in 2026, including Jam and M**der, a musical play based on the story of Blackpool poisoner Louisa Merrifield.
The evening includes a 20-minute interval, allowing audiences to reflect, recharge, and absorb the immersive atmosphere before the film’s climactic finale.
This solo performance offers a rare opportunity to experience Xander Armstrong’s artistry at its purest — a fusion of experimental sound, percussion, cinematic storytelling, and ritualistic performance, making it a perfect Christmas horror tradition.
Running Time: 8:00pm–9:30pm (including interval)
