Join Chicago for Chicagoans for a walking tour of Norwood Park, covering neighborhood history, architecture, and current developments.REGISTRATION AVAILABLE BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 28TH
Chicago for Chicagoans is delighted to announce our newest tour — a two-hour walk through Norwood Park, led by neighborhood expert Matt Weiss ! Matt is an urban planner and avid bicyclist who's excited to showcase this little-known area of the city, where his family has deep roots.
Beginning at Norwood Park Metra Station , the tour will cover the history, architecture, and landmarks of this distinctly-shaped enclave located on the city's far northwestern edge. From the (contested) "oldest house in Chicago," to countless historic churches, glamourous turn-of-the-century homes, unusual street layouts, and business cooridors filled with old-school, mom & pop businesses, this adventure promises to show even the saltiest old Chicagoan something new. The afternoon will end at beloved local landmark Superdawg , where participants are encouraged to join the group for a classic Chicago hotdog!
Chicago for Chicagoans happily exists as a "pay-what-you-can" tour service. A suggested tip of $10-20 per person is always appreciated, but reviewing us on Yelp , liking us on Facebook , spreading the word, and attending future tours tells us how much you love us too! We are a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit that creates inclusive walking tours by & for Chicago residents, designed to represent the histories of all Chicagoans.
