About the Event:
Join us for an epic adventure through the beautiful northern New England borders area! The 2024 Northern New England Borders Bikepacking Ride is a uncensored grassroots event for all cycling enthusiasts looking for a challenge and stunning scenery. Gear up and meet up for an unforgettable journey filled with camaraderie and personal triumphs. Make it your own trip, try outpacing your peers if you feel like it or just enjoy the scenery at a leisurly pace if you prefer. Please arrive by 05:00 / 05:30AM and meetup at the bakery for a 06:30AM group depart.

What to Expect:
Ride through picturesque trails, conquer challenging terrains, and experience the thrill of bikepacking in self-supported conditions, ride it as fast as you can or as slow as you feel like it, you are in charge, it's yours. Whether you're a seasoned bikepacker or a newbie looking for a new challenge, this friendly event promises excitement and a sense of accomplishment.
The 372 miles route is mostly divided half and half between New Hampshire and Vermont with an 18 miles incursion into Maine and is about 80% unpaved. You will find all types of surfaces from roads, single tracks, gravel roads, logging roads and ATV trails, about everything the region has to offer, tires 40mm to 2.4” recommended (wider the better).
There is no need to carry the kitchen, the route was designed to pass by and near plenty of resupply points as well as legitimate campgrounds. We strongly recommend carrying a GPS tracker, SPOT or Garmin InReach, for your own safety and use with Trackleader for participants tracking. We may or may not help providing SPOT tracker rental, TBD, we'll contact participants later if we do, if you do not use one, you can simply email your GPX track for the final tally if you'd like but be aware that without a tracker, you will lack SOS and communication functions in the most remote areas which lack cell signal. For your safety, at the very least, please tell someone close to you what you are doing and when you expect to check back in.
The event is free and free of organization, completely self-supported, similarly to the well known Tour Divide, it is an underground, grassroots and uncensored friendly event. Riders can ride solo or in small group, when in group, drafting, sharing food and equipment other than a group tracker is to avoid (honor system).

Parking:
Parking is on town Lot A or B downtown near the start alongside the river.
You must obtain an overnight parking permit from the Littleton police department at the following link: . The “visitor pass” parking allows you up to 3 nights for $10/night (until Monday 7/22 midnight) and can be printed, the “overnight parking permit” is valid for the calendar year, is unlimited for a cost of $50, most riders will need this permit. Please allow enough time for the permit to be mailed back to you. Best practice is to fill-in one of the forms, email ([email protected]) or fax it to the police department and call the office for payment over the phone. They will mail you the yearly parking which is a sticker to place on the back of your rear-view mirror. Do not wait for the last minute but if you do, you can obtain it same day at the police station open Mo to Fr 8AM to 6PM.
Map Link:
Please carefully study the map information, there are sections where camping is prohibited, there are areas where you will encounter ATV’s, possible logging activity and horse riders, please yield as you do not have priority. Be mindful of wildlife, there are black bears and moose throughout the map, carry in – carry out your trash, respect private property.

Liabilities Disclamer:
All the organizers of the event provide you with are the map to follow, a group grand depart meetup and a completion time tally, there is no support whatsoever. By registering and participating, by default, you understand and agree that the organizers make no guarantee of complete map accuracy, you must use your own navigation skills and judgment should you encounter a map error or unforeseen road block of any sort, that you are 100% on your own willing risks and responsibilities, that the organizers decline any liability whatsoever, should you be involved in any sort of issue, including but not limited to, trespassing, property theft, property damage, bodily injury or death. It is recommended to carry your own insurance, for example Garmin sells a Search And Rescue insurance for only $40. Just like any other group ride, there is no finish flag, no prize, and no time limit, nobody watching out for you, you ride and finish (or not finish) on your own terms, you simply join us for a group start, then you are on your own, you make it your ride.
