Commemorating the 80th anniversary of D-Day this talk will explore the role of the Northamptonshire Yeomanry as part of Operation Overlord. The 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry landed in Normandy over the 13th-14th June 1944 at Le-Hamel as part of the 33rd Armoured Brigade. The 2nd Northamptonshire Yeomanry the Reconnaissance Regiment of the 11th Armoured Division landed near Coursevilles-sur-Mer on the 18th of June. The talk will feature individual stories researched especially for D-Day 80 and original artworks by Major D G Bevan sketched at the front.
