Join us this September for a study day in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. We will tour of four churches in Northamptonshire to visit stained glass windows created by a series of remarkable artists and craftsmen, including Louis Comfort Tiffany, John Piper, Patrick Reyntiens, Evie Hone, Mark Angus and more.
Our day will begin at the 17th century church at Apethorpe before heading to the highlight of our day - Oundle School chapel, a ‘treasure house of modern stained glass’. Our group will have exclusive access to the chapel. After lunch we will visit Kimbolton to see the Tiffany window there, and to round off the day we will visit the contrasting windows of modernist Evie Hone and gothic revivalist Ninian Comper at churches in Wellingborough.
Ticket price includes return coach travel from Peterborough, audio headsets, guiding and notes. Lunch is not provided
Meeting and Departure points:
Meet in Peterborough for a 10am departure by coach. We encourage travelling to Peterborough (on the London KGX-Edinburgh mainline) by train. The coach will return to Peterborough by 5:30pm latest. If it is easier for you to depart from Wellingborough train station (towards Leicester), we recommend travel is booked for after 4pm.
Access requirements:
We will travel from site to site by coach. There may be a short amount of walking from the coach to the site of no more than a few hundred metres.
Lunch:
Please note there will be a short break for lunch at Oundle. Lunch is not included but there are plenty of cafes and places to eat a packed lunch.
