We’re planning a group hike to Big Shoals State Park on Sunday November 23rd. This a very scenic park on the Suwannee River that features the largest rapids in the state of Florida. We’ll be starting from the main trailhead around 9am that morning. This is a friends & family friendly event, so kids and fur kids are welcome (fur kids on leash). The area around the trailhead is directly on the river and there are restrooms and multiple picnic tables there. We encourage everyone to bring a picnic lunch for after the hike.
This park is directly on the Suwannee River and the main trail follows along the river to the area of the shoals (rapids), which is only about a mile from the trailhead. There are several trails that extend past the area of the shoals and offer hiking options of up to 28 miles.
