Event Description: Join us for an exciting and educational 2-hour immersive experience on the beautiful Seaham Beach! This hands-on lesson, led by The Sea We See, will explore the fascinating changes that occur in the North Sea during autumn. Perfect for children and parents alike, this event will deepen your understanding of our coastal ecosystem and inspire you to become a Coastal Guardian.
What to Expect:
- Introduction to Autumn and the North Sea: Learn about the seasonal changes and their impact on marine life and coastal environments.
- Observation Walk: Use binoculars and magnifying glasses to observe and identify marine species and coastal features.
- Exploration Stations: Participate in engaging activities at three stations:
- Marine Life Identification
- Coastal Erosion and Weathering
- Marine Debris and Conservation
- Group Discussion and Reflection: Share your observations and discuss how we can protect our marine environment.
- Creative Activity: Create a nature journal entry or keepsake to remember the day.
For our adventure, we will meet at the park bench at ///stage.works.losses and descend to the beach via the stair case. We'll explore the coastline to the north, witnessing the impacts of coastal erosion and cliff habitat changes. Then we stroll south along the tideline, we'll discover autumn's effects on beach debris and remove any hazards to marine life. Finally, we’ll ascend to the coastal path for some marine life observations before returning to the carpark for a well-deserved hot drink and biscuit. This is a perfect way to learn, protect, and cherish our beautiful coast.
