About this Event

ABOUT THE EVENT

Norfolk Director, along with its sister publications, Suffolk Director and Essex Director, are part of the UK Director magazines portfolio which all have one very simple aim, to help you run your business better.

Brought to you in association with sponsors: Ensors Chartered Accountants and Charles Stanley Wealth Managers, the event is themed ‘Scale up & Grow’ and aims to inspire and motivate, as well as being useful and informative.

The event is only open to sole traders, directors, entrepreneurs, partners, owners and senior decision-makers of businesses from all market sectors. As well as providing opportunities to network with other business leaders, attendees will be positively encouraged to question the keynote speakers and the panel of experts; all with a focus on sharing knowledge and experience and stimulating a healthy discussion around the real issues linked to running a business, particularly with a leaning towards scale up and growth.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

The event is divided into two sections interspersed with opportunities to network:

8.00am: Arrival and registration at The Forum, where delegates will gather for coffee, tea and pastries.

8.30am: Taking place in the Auditorium, part one will be presentations by keynote speakers, Trina Beare, Joint Managing Director at Lamberts, and Chris Reeve, Managing Director at Reeve Social Media. They will talk candidly about the highs, lows and challenges they have experienced getting where they are today, as well as sharing some tips to ensure business success. There will be opportunities for attendees to ask questions after their presentations.

9.50am: Break for networking and refreshments in the Foyer Area.

10.30am: Back in the Lecture Theatre for part two, the Q&A session. Presented in a similar format to ‘Question Time’, this will be an opportunity to discuss and put questions to a panel comprising of business leaders who are at the 'coal face' of running their own organisations, and experts representing professional services in the county. Chaired by Editor in Chief, Sue Wilcock, all the panel members are currently working with local businesses and bring a wealth of ‘real’ experience and knowledge that they are happy to share. Please note this part of the event will be a closed session and take place under the ‘Chatham House Rule’, which allows anyone to use the information discussed but without revealing who made any particular comment.

COST

Early Bird Tickets are £25 plus vat until 21 May and will then increase to the full price of £50 plus vat.

Trina Beare, Managing Director at Lamberts

Founded in Norwich in 1963, Lamberts is an independent family-run supplier and distributor of industrial equipment including pipes, valves, fittings, fasteners, tools, lubricants, workwear, and safety wear for businesses in East Anglia. It is committed to quality and has held the ISO 9001:2015 standard for Quality Management since July 1989.

Trina originally joined Lamberts as a purchasing assistant in 2006. She then joined the board four years later, becoming general manager in 2011, before her appointment as MD in 2015. As the third-generation Managing Director of Lamberts, Trina follows on from her grandfather and business founder, Henry, and Father Tim, who was MD from 1980.

In 2021, Neill Ives became joint MD alongside Trina, and together they oversee the entire operation at Lamberts, taking a special interest in customer service, finance, operations, staff retention and sales and marketing.

There are very few female leaders in the heavy machinery and engineering industry. Data from the Alison Rose Review of Female Entrepreneurship showed that only 16% of small business employers and one in three of entrepreneurs are women.

In her presentation, Trina will talk about her experience of taking over the business from her father and grandfather and how customer service has always been a priority. She will cover how she has worked to implement a change in culture within the business, so it is more collaborative, with a knock on effect of improving financial performance and efficiencies.

Chris has built his business from the ground up and in 2020, he hit the milestone of managing more than 250 plus different social media accounts in his career.

He has always had a strong desire to help people and businesses on their journey, helping them realise their dreams and hit their targets through the effective use of value-led, commercially driven organic content, and having pursued his passion for social media as a ‘side hustle’, before progressing fast up the agency world - he’s now been in the industry for over a decade.

In his spare time, he has grown and developed a football fan channel, ‘Talk Norwich City’ into one of the most respected in the country. On this platform, Chris co-hosts a podcast where he interviews former and current professional footballers, as well as C-Suite execs at Norwich City Football Club. As a result of this work, he now has a regular show on BBC Radio Norfolk too, where he is the Co-Host of ‘The Scrimmage’ every Monday night.
