Nordiska väsen - Dance of DreamsWelcome to a world that is almost, but not quite, like Scandinavia in the 1800s. The difference is that here, magic is real.
Specifically, the type of magic that you find in dark forests, deep mines, and stormy seas. The world is populated by giants, will-o-wisps, faeries, and all those creatures and beings that in our modern times have been relegated to myths and stories.
There are things lurking in the shadows and waiting, hiding, and slowly creeping closer just out of sight.
But in this modern, 19th-century world of technology and industrialisation, there is no room for these beings. Advancements in science have given us such wonders as electricity and the steam engine, and most people know that things like witchcraft and trolls are only in fairy tales.
Most people are wrong.
You and a few others have learned the truth. You all have the Sight, the ability to see these magical beings.
More importantly, you have all experienced the danger they pose as they are being shunted off and forgotten about, as the world grows increasingly off balance and people forget about the old traditions that kept them safe.
So, you have come together, to combat these dangers and help protect the people who are being hurt by this unseen forgotten world.
Embarking on journeys to remote villages in the wilderness, you will uncover the secrets of the Mythic North. Armed with nothing but your courage, conviction, and ability to see the supernatural, you will face the creatures of the forest. Neither bullets nor blades can stop them. To drive them off, you must understand them. Find their weakness.
Yet even if you prevail, facing the väsen will leave you with scars that never heal.

Nordiska Väsen is a horror/mystery role-playing game about Nordic folklore.
Nordiska väsen - a horror role-playing game in the 19th-century Nordic region is written by Nils Hintze and based on illustrator and author Johan Egerkran's art book of the same name. The game presents a dark gothic world, steeped in Norse folklore and ancient myths. The game rules use a custom version of the award-winning Year Zero engine.
The game Dance of Dreams is originally in Swedish but will be translated and the event will be held in English to broaden the experience to all.
Content warning: this story includes depictions of domestic abuse, and potentially a description of suicide.
