"The Backup Planner" is the story of single mother Jan who holds high aspirations for her high school daughter, Sophie. Jan, who is grieving from the death of her own mother, wants Sophie to go to college, while college is the last thing on Sophie’s mind. Jan creates a backup plan for Sophie by applying to college for her. Jan’s best friend Keisha also needs a backup plan since a traditional path to motherhood is not working for her. The Backup Planner is the story of three strong independent women whose goals and aspirations share a common thread.
