Noon Concert-Gary McCurdy and Zak AboZena, Sara AboZena Tuba Duo

Gary McCurdy and Zak AboZena will presents a concert of tuba duets on Thursday March 20 at 12:00
Noon in the Washington Public Library. The concert is free.
McCurdy is a well known musician in the Washington area. He has performed as The Tubador at
many local events and taught instrumental music in the Washington Schools for twenty five years.
AboZena is in 8th grade at the Washington Middle School. He was selected as first chair tuba for the
Southeast District Honor Band and will represent Southeast Iowa in the tuba section of the All Iowa 8th
Grade Band which will perform at the Iowa Bandmasters Convention in Des Moines in mid May.
Members of the duo will be joined by Sara AboZena, Zak’s mother, for three pieces. She is a member
of Orchestra Iowa in Cedar Rapids playing viola.
