Artist Statement:
My work begins by discovering physical forms of memories, buried and lost within places, philosophy and culture. I collect artifacts from daily encounters in forms of photographs, Screenshots, audio recordings, video recordings and written or drawn documents. These, often worn down or decayed treasures, inspire my disciplines in drawing, painting, installation and performance works. I’m guided by expressions of the intimate and phenomenological experiences that are often overlooked or discarded, conjuring only as apparitions in the peripherals of everyday life and dreams. Feelings of isolation, loneliness and death are grounding themes surrounding my relationship with these elusive encounters. Although heavy in thought, and rough in appearance, I find the whispering of the inevitable comforting and hopeful. I strive to commune with these visual forms, transcribing their hidden messages into navigational markers, supporting the ways I look, experience and learn from the world.
