NOMA PDX (The Portland Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architects) was founded by 3 Latina PSU Students in 2020 while studying Architecture in hopes of fostering a wider community of minority (Black, Indigenous, Latine, Asian, SWANA & People of Color etc. ) students and professionals within the design industry.
In Oregon there are only 6 architects that are listed on the The Directory of African American Architects which not only speaks to the larger issue about lack of represendation in the Architecture industry nationwide but here locally. Let's try to fix that by building students networks of support.
