Wilderness First Aid & Optional CPR - Feb 15-16, Eastman Lodge, Kingsport, TNWilderness environments create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. With ASHI Wilderness First Aid training, outdoor enthusiasts will be better prepared to respond when faced with limited resources, longer times to care for someone, and decisions about when and how fast to evacuate an ill or injured person. This 16-hour course led by wilderness medicine instructor Adam Herzog covers wilderness and remote first aid from a basic understanding of emergency response in an outdoor setting to specific techniques and considerations for a wide range of injuries and illnesses. Upon successful completion participants are issued a certification card good for 2 years. CPR is not included but is scheduled as a separate class the evening of the first day for those wishing to add it by selecting the CPR Add-on option during check out. Age 12+. Cost is $250; $300 with CPR Add-On.
Anyone who spends time outdoors will benefit greatly from this training and be better prepared to provide assistance when things don't go according to plan. We are proud to partner with the Tennessee Eastman Hiking & Canoe Club (TEHCC) and Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts (APES) to bring this course to the public at the Eastman Lodge at Bays Mountain in beautiful Northeast Tennessee.

Wilderness First Aid & CPR Feedback:
"Our instructor did a great job in Wilderness First Aid training. He seemed really interested in our ability to quickly and accurately assess a serious injury and how to determine whether to evacuate or shelter in place. He also taught us how to address a person's injury while considering our SOAP Notes so that we can give thorough care in the back country. He prepared us to confidently treat injured people as much as we can with WFA training while also knowing when to seek immediate help from a professional health care provider."
