For the first time ever in the USA, come meet Chief Yama Nomanawa and Paje Peno Kamanawa from the Noke Koi Nation.
About this Event

We’re excited to announce that for the first time ever in the United States, we are hosting Chief Yama Nomanawa, Paje Peno Kamanawa, Txana Ãta Nomanawa & Karine Vari from the Noke Koi Nation, for a remarkable evening in support of the Nomawana Village, in Acre, Brazil.

If you haven’t heard of the Noke Koi people before, it’s probably because they’ve been very immersed in the Forest. Unlike other more-known tribes, they are very traditional and haven’t been exposed to the Western culture as much.

However, they have now received instruction from Kokapino Txari (the Great Spirit) to share their knowledge and wisdom with the world and feel ready to do so!

Join us at the Omnihum Gallery in Taos, NM, to learn more about the Noke Koi culture; their music, their stories and their medicines, and to help support the Nomawana Village meet their basic survival needs.

ABOUT THE NOKE KOI:

"Noke Koî" means original/true people and they are known to be the "True People of the Amazon Rainforest".

Their story says they came out of the Earth, breathed into life by Kokapino Txari (the Great Spirit), who showed them how to live. They received knowledge on how/what to eat, what medicines to use and how, as well as prayers and dietas to strengthen the body and spirit.

They still preserve their traditional ways and only a few speak Portuguese – their native tongue is Nokevana (spoken by 100% of the tribe) and they are a true embodiment of ancient wisdom and harmonoius living with Nature.

The Nomawana Village is located in the state of Acre, Brazil, in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. It hosts 109 people, of which about half are children

The Nomanawa family has resided on the banks of the Tauari River since the first generations of the Noke Koî people. Their mission on Earth is to care for and protect the rainforest, preserving their land and nature.

The village is incredibly beautiful and through the help of donations, they have managed to build a wonderful center to receive visitors. However, their own living conditions are in need of our help (read more below).

About Chief Yama Nomanawa:

Chief Yama Nomanawa is the leader of the Nomanawa Village.

He has been a key element in ensuring his people continue to practice their culture and pass on their knowledge to future generations. He strives to maintain their culture, keeping traditions, beliefs and language alive in his village. He affirms the Noke Koî are the first nation in the Amazon – they consider themselves to be the roots of Brazil, roots of culture and roots of healing.

In his own words: “I’m continuously studying with medicine from the forest, traveling in the spiritual world and connecting with Great Spirit to ask for protection of the forest, Mother Earth and humanity, and to bring light, health and good life to all human beings.”

The Chief's nephew, Ãta Nomanawa will also be joining us at the event. He's a renowed Txana (musician) and will be sharing some chants and other traditional songs.

About Romeya Paje Peno Kamanawa:

Peno Kamanawa is a spiritual leader of his Nation. He represents his culture and keeps the tradition of Romeya, (the highest level of shamanic doctor/curandero in the region). Currently he's one of only a few Romeya Pajes in the world.

As all doctors of the Forest, he attends to his community, helping in all physical, mental and spiritual processes. He also works with communities around the world, including other indigenous, to share and represent his techniques.

Paje Peno's mission is to preserve the wellness of his people bringing healing to all of human-kind.

Peno’s wife, Vari will also be supporting this gathering with her wisdom and music.

HOW FUNDS WILL BE USED:

All funds will be used to help this wonderful group of humans, who could really use some financial support right now.

Here's what your donations will go towards:

? Shelter: they managed to build beautiful homes for visitors but their own basic wooden huts are all falling apart. In fact, they're in such poor state that they can't be fixed. They need to be demolished and built again from scratch (and with better construction plans and materials).

??‍♀️ Transportation: Their boats, which is the only way they can get to the nearest civilization for supplies, are broken and their motors and propellers are completely unusable. They are in dire need of new boats with good motors.

☀️Solar energy: They need new solar panels and equipment, as well as a good generator for backup, so they can access clean drinking water through their well (which requires electricity).

? Internet/communications: The tribe needs basic access to internet in order to communicate with the outside world. And while their Cacique has a strict plan to limit their use in order to avoid the trappings of the modern world, he needs internet in order to keep this community afloat. We want to set them up with Starlink in both of their villages, but it's not cheap.

These are basic survival needs. This beautiful village deserves and needs our help with these simple modern technologies not only so that they can survive and thrive in life, but so that they can continue to share their important, sacred, and ancient healing technologies with the world.

Your support can create a lasting impact for the Nomanawa village, a community that embodies resilience and hope in the Amazon Rainforest. By donating, you become a part of their incredible journey towards a brighter future. Every contribution, big or small, makes a significant difference in their lives.

Join us in this meaningful cause and witness the power of generosity in transforming lives!

With deep love and gratitude, as they say in the village...

"Varí Varí!" (Cheers!)
