ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Canadian Folk Music’s Emerging Artist of the Year and Sirius XM’s Top of the Country finalist, Noah Derksen is widely becoming known as a songwriter’s songwriter. Hailing from the heart of the Canadian Prairies, Noah has spent years honing his craft up, down, and across North America and Europe. With a rich and soulful voice, Noah weaves poetry that sounds instantly familiar on first listen. His new full-length album of cover songs, Stolen Serenades (February2025) is out via Symphonic.
"When I was 19, I watched Leonard Cohen's last concert in Winnipeg, and was struck by how words can hold such meaning regardless of timbre. I went back to my dorm room and put pen to page, thus beginning my journey as a songwriter. Many literal and metaphorical crumpled papers later, this project is a collection of seven songs that have shaped me as a songwriter; some I absorbed as a child through sheer osmosis, and others I fell upon later in my stumblings as a writer. Though certainly not a comprehensive list, this is my offering to those who came before."
Plus, Noah's got long, flowing auburn hair and a twinkle in his eye. What's not to love?
