Noah Church is a singer-songwriter from Newcastle, NSW. He’s released albums, beat tapes and voice memos under the alias Yev Kassem, as well as performing with his band, dave the band, since 2013.
Now operating under his birth name, Noah is stepping out with an album called The Shadow of a Wave; a collection of songs originally composed for the highly influential blog/music journal The Brioche Breeze.
In 2022, at the behest of his overzealous and sometimes neurotic manager, Joey Brioche, Noah wrote a song a day. He recorded them on his iPhone voice memo app, published the audio and lyrics on The Brioche Breeze and, in conjunction with Brioche’s label, joeyfknbrioche, released bi-monthly compilations featuring the top picks from the blog.
The Shadow of a Wave was constructed from Noah and Joey’s nine favourite songs of the year, taken from a possible 282. With the help of Dougal Mcmullan (Household Item One) and his 8-track cassette recorder, the songs were reworked, rearranged and rerecorded to eventually become The Shadow of a Wave.
To commemorate the album’s release, Noah is taking to the road with an all-star band of Newcastle’s finest and most celebrated musicians.
