About this Event
The talk will happen in the Parkside Building, Room P421. We'll provide some refreshments and vegetarian Samosas! Booking is essential which helps us to plan for the order of food and refreshments. Thanks!
About the talk:
When we talk about soundscapes, what are the actual sounds that we talk about? Is it all about waterfalls and fountains? Birdsong? This talk will deliver an overview of more than 100 on-site soundscape sessions from European cities, before and throughout the pandemic, to the protected natural areas. There will be soundscapes from public spaces in Rome, Venice, Granada, Zagreb, Zadar and London, as well as Cairngorms, Dolomites, Rondane and Lapland. Key research methods and findings will be discussed, suggesting a path towards soundscape design and planning.
About the speaker:
Dr Tin Oberman is a soundscape researcher at the University College London with a background in architecture, urban planning, landscape and music. Tin is producing and co-hosting a podcast about the science and beauty of sounds in cities The Rest Is Just Noise.
