Half day, in person training for frontline workers in Northern Ireland on support options for individuals with no recourse to public funds.
About this Event

The Frontline Network are delighted to present this new session, No Recourse to Public Funds training - Northern Ireland, through our ongoing Outsourced Training Programme.

Designed and delivered by Law Centre Norther Ireland, this training is aimed at professionals and volunteers who work in the homelessness sector in Northern Ireland.

The aim of the session is for advisers / support workers to:

· Have a better understanding of immigration terminology, different categories of migrants and associated rights, entitlements and restrictions

· Have an awareness of what pathways out of destitution might be available for each category of migrants

· Be able to identify migrants who would benefit from immigration advice

· Know what questions to ask / information to obtain in order make more effective referrals

· An awareness of the pitfalls and OISC restrictions on giving immigration advice

About the Course

The session is designed to be introductory, accessible and interactive.

The session will cover:

· How immigration status can both cause and compound destitution

· Identifying immigration status and associated rights, entitlements and restrictions

· What NRPF is and who it affects

· Applying to lift the NRPF condition

· Late applications to the EU Settlement Scheme

· Asylum support

· Support for survivors of trafficking

· Support for victims of domestic abuse

· Making effective referrals for immigration advice

· OISC restrictions

· Practical support such as: Requesting Social Services intervention; Red Cross Crisis Fund; NI Housing Executive duty (limited to advice only); NGO/charitable funds that support migrants

· Home Office Voluntary Returns Service

· Key contacts

Who Can Attend

This training is exclusively offered to frontline workers in Northern Ireland who support people experiencing homelessness.

We will ask for those registered to provide a valid work email address when registering. Anyone registering with their personal email address will have their ticket returned.

This session is free to attend. If you are unable to make it after you have signed up, please contact us at the earliest convenient time to cancel your booking.

On the Day

Start time will be 10am and finish is at 1pm. Please sign on around 10 minutes ahead of event to ensure session can begin on time.

Session will take place on Zoom. Joining instructions and any course materials will be emailed to you within 48hours of course start time.

You will receive joining links and any course materials at least the day ahead of training.

You will need access to a computer to attend. Sessions will be delivered via Zoom.

The Frontline Network are working with Homeless Link as training provider to offer No Recourse to Public Funds training on 11/12/2024. Our trainer requires a list of all attendees to be able to send pre and post training resource materials. We require your consent for us to provide these details to the training provider, where they are a third party organisation and where we hold your data via our registration portal. Please note, your details will only be used for this training course – you will not be contacted for any other purpose by the trainer.
