This event replaces standard New Year's resolutions with a strategic analysis of personal bottlenecks. The workshop is based on the "Hamming Question," a concept originally framed by mathematician Richard Hamming at Bell Labs, and later adapted into a workshop format by the Center for Applied Rationality (CFAR).
We will use this methodology to identify the single most significant constraint on your progress ("the bottleneck") and design a concrete plan to address it.
The Methodology
The session follows a structured sequence of prompts designed to:
- Debug: Identify recurring behavioral patterns and distractions.
- Locate: Isolate the primary bottleneck for the upcoming year.
- Solve: Apply specific problem-solving constraints (e.g., the 5-minute solve, the pre-mortem) to generate actionable solutions.
Logistics
- Location: Teahouse Dhramasala, Karlínském náměstí
- Materials: Pen and paper are required. This is a writing-heavy session; analog tools are recommended to maintain focus.
