About this Event
In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings.
Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger. “NO KINGS” is more than just a slogan—it’s the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, carried by millions in chants and on posters, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together.
The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us.
***East County has multiple events planned for NO KINGS Day. Each event has its own registration site on Mobilize. This event is our kick-off event for the day. We will start at 11:00 AM with a Rally in the parking lot of the old multiplex theater off of Mokelumne Dr and Lone Tree Way. Volunteers will direct you where to park. We will have music and a speaker or two and maybe food trucks. After we are all pumped up, we will cross Lone Tree Way and walk along the bike path with our signs and flags to Hillcrest Ave. That concludes the morning event.
PROTESTS/VISIBILITY EVENTS
Beginning at 1:00 and going until 4:00, we have 4 events planned around East County.
- At the conclusion of the March near Hillcrest and Lone Tree in Antioch, we will have a sidewalk protest. People are invited to bring flags and signs for visibility to passing motorists. We can occupy all 4 corners and spread out along the sidewalks.
- We will also have a similar protest/visibility event scheduled for the intersection of Vintage Parkway and Main Street in Oakley. Signs and flags are welcome. Reception by motorists in the past has been very supportive.
- Pedestrian Bridge over Highway 4 in Brentwood near Costco. We were amazed that 400 people showed up on the bridge last June for the first NO KINGS Day. It was a very festive atmosphere, and included people of all ages. Lots of signs, music and even some dancing.
- Railroad Ave. Overpass in Pittsburg is another fun location for protesters. Not only can we display signs on the fencing of the bridge to vehicles traveling in both directions of Highway 4, but protesters can have signs and flags for the passing traffic on Railroad and at the two intersections on both ends of the overpass. We always get a warm Reception there.
People are encouraged to mix and match and participate in multiple events.
Our goal is to surpass the numbers nationwide and have the largest number of mass demonstrations EVER in the USA. We need to get to the magic 3.5% of the population.
The "3.5% rule" suggests that when 3.5% of a country's population participates in nonviolent protests, it is likely to lead to significant political change. This concept is based on research showing that nonviolent movements are more successful than violent ones, with a higher likelihood of achieving their goals.
A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.
