Welcome to our first open tag team competition! 2 vs 2 action in the cage for the chance to get your name etched forever on the coveted SBG Tag Team cup. (This has been an inhouse competition until now.) This is open to all levels, all clubs and anyone who has grappling experience. if you don't have a team member, we can help you out.
This is a fundraiser to help fund combat sports athletes who are looking to compete in events outside the Albany area and give opportunities that may not be financially viable for those athletes.
Competitors compete for free. $15 donation at the door for friends and family to support. The more people that come along, the more support you get as athletes.
ALL athletes that compete, regardless of club or affliation, are eligible for this support. You help raise the funds, you get the benefits.
We will look to create good fair match ups and will create brackets once all nominations are in. The teams with the most experience and weight get the chance to compete for the cup.

Rules-
This will be run as per the SUG tag team event rules set. Match link below as example.
We also have kids matches on our youtube channel to reference.
Winner is the team with the most overall submissions at the end of the round. In the case of a draw, each team nominates one athlete and first takedown wins. No referee decisions.
Notable rule points.
If there is a submission, both team members change out and 2 new members come in to restart.
There is a 3 second change over rule on the tag.
Cage is in effect and can be used during the match. No grabbing of the cage in any way. Takedown position will be given in the event of a grab taking place.
Referee has the ability to call submissions that are at risk of injuring the other party. Heelhooks, knee bars and shoulder locks are considered high risk and will be called early.
We are raising money for you athletes to compete, not injure each other so you can't.
Looking forward to a fun afternoon of grappling. These events are super high entertainment value.
