Tekoah Boatner Executive Director of Youth Oasis will be the keynote speaker.
This symposium will offer youth leaders and advocates the opportunity to get training in 4 critical areas. This symposium will be targeted to adults that work with children especially parents coaches summer camp staff etc. The mission of this training will be to present an overview of what has changed for our children especially regarding raise the age and how the village can protect its children.
Ø Proactive training and understanding of the risk for marginalized youth on "gathering" and knowing their rights
Ø Proactive training on understanding and avoiding traffic pitfalls
Ø Proactive training and understanding of gun safety and avoiding illegal contact with weapons
Ø Opportunity for a comprehensive training (4-hour workshop) on teaching adults how to effectively work with trauma impacted young people by Dr. Jonathan Cormer and his team from Network for Enhancing Wellness in Disaster-Affected Youth (NEW DAY) will present "Respond with Child-Adult Relationship Enhancement" (CARE) which focuses on trauma-informed evidence-based skills for improving relationships between adults and children (and improving child behavioral and emotional challenges) at any time during the aftermath of community crisis.
