Do you want to learn self-sufficiency and resilience? Are you interested in learning sustainable, soil-building gardening techniques that minimise disturbance and promote long-term soil health?
Hosted by Susanne Peet of Eight Acres Permaculture, this workshop delves into the world of no-dig gardening, a practice that minimises soil disturbance, promotes biodiversity, and builds long-term soil health. Discover the benefits of this sustainable approach, explore key techniques like cover cropping and composting, and learn how to implement no-dig principles in your own garden, regardless of size or space limitations.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
-No-Dig Philosophy and Principles: Understand the core concepts of no-dig gardening and its ecological benefits compared to traditional methods.
-Soil Health Building: Explore the importance of soil as a living ecosystem and learn techniques to improve its structure, fertility, and water retention.
-Cover Cropping Strategies: Discover the power of cover crops for W**d suppression, nutrient cycling, and soil building.
-Composting and Mulching: Learn effective methods for creating nutrient-rich compost and utilising mulch for soil protection and moisture retention.
-No-Dig in Different Settings: Adapt no-dig principles to raised beds, containers, urban gardens, and diverse climates.
-Troubleshooting and Success Tips: Address common challenges faced in no-dig gardens and gain practical tips for overcoming obstacles.
Throughout the workshop, Susanne encourages participants to share their experiences, challenges, and tips. Learning from your community builds confidence and social networks.
Cost is $15pp, if you want to come but can't afford it right now, let us know. We have some free spots available for our workshops to make sure everyone can participate.
Please book via the website link, or by calling/texting Wendy 0434811474, or by email [email protected].
This project is supported by FRRR, through funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
Surviving the Dry is the collective name for a series of five projects all designed to reduce the potential for community harm during times of drought by first building social resilience.
