NMbodied - feat. Expressive Art & Painting with Alyssa Burtt

The NMbodied series are a monthly community gathering and embodiment practice for Non-Monogamists in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland.

Cultivate a sense of safety, resiliency and freedom within self, while exploring or deepening the non-monogamous relationships in your life. Process the challenges of Consensual Non-Monogamy (CNM) within the community through conscious relating and embodiment practices.

Each monthly event will feature a new guest facilitator, guiding you through an embodiment practice aimed at connecting with your true authentic expression.

Whether you have been practicing non monogamy for years, or are new to alternative relationships, we encourage you to use these events as an opportunity to ground and connect with yourself, and your inner world.

This month, join us for an evening of expressive art and cultivate awareness and relational skills through the practice of embodied and collaborative abstract painting.

Tuesday, April 30th, 2024 | 6:30pm - 9:30pm

AO Studio - 554 Clarke Drv, Vancouver (East Van)

Founders Jess Rodwell and Bekah Sarino will begin the evening with an introduction to NMbodied, followed by small group circles for connection and getting to know your community members.

Relationships are works of art, co-created through the collaborative dance of desires and boundaries, self expression and listening, giving and receiving. In this workshop we will cultivate awareness and relational skills through the practice of embodied and collaborative abstract painting!

Learn how to suspend judgment to free your creative expression from habits of self censorship and perfectionism, returning again and again to the seat of your power, and the source of all creativity — your body. Practice the art of collaboration through developing a shared vision, and cultivating a YES/AND attitude of listening and responding as you create a work of art together with your partner(s).

Come away with new skills you can apply in your relational life, and a few works of art you can hang in your home! No painting experience required. All materials provided. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on!

Participants will come away with an 18”x24” painting on fine art paper.

There will be allocated time for socializing, time permitting, and you’ll be gifted the art work you created to bring home with you!

Jess Rodwell (she/her) is a Somatic Sex and Intimacy coach trained by the Somatica Institute®, working with clients through her private practice Jecca | Embodied Intimacy. Jess is passionate about embodied self discovery in the realms of sex, intimacy, non-monogamy and kink. Jess is the cofounder of NMbodied, and is a lead facilitator of Awaken, an intimate outdoor retreat exploring our innate sexuality in nature.

Rebekah Sarino (she/her) is a Reiki Master, Divine Channel & Embodiment Mentor who specializes in multidimensional healing, spirituality, energetic mastery, harmonizing the Feminine & Masculine polarities within and reacquainting the mind and body with the soul self - the truest version of you.

She is passionate about teaching others to cultivate and harness their sexual energy to connect them to their innate power and gifts. Rebekah also certifies others to become Usui Reiki Practitioners. L1, L2 & Master Level.

Alyssa Burtt (she/her) is a multi-disciplinary artist and workshop facilitator from Vancouver, Canada. Through painting, photography, and live participatory experiences, her work is a practice of regard for the wild and dignified impulse of sovereignty that grows like weeds through the cracks in the concrete of our culture's compelling fear of difference (in both ourselves + others).
Her work is a practice of regard — for the heaven on earth that becomes possible every time we relate to (instead of othering) all that makes up the heterogenous world we cohabitate.
