About this Event

Stand back, the girls are coming through: Learn about forty amazing Asian American women who have changed the course of history!

From the big stage to the US Navy, from laboratories to the boardroom, from the Olympics to the pages in books, these girls and women lead every line. Bold, bright, and empowering profiles by Geisel Honor–winning and #1 New York Times bestselling artist Niña Mata place these incredible changemakers at the very front and inspire readers to tap into their own greatness.

About the Author:

Niña Mata is an illustrator and sometimes writer who has created many books for kids including the #1 New York Times Bestseller I Promise by LeBron James. She is also the illustrator of the Theodor Seuss Geisel Honored series “Ty’s Travels” by the incomparable Kelly Starling Lyons.

She was born in the Philippines and raised in Queens, New York. Because her parents worked and went to night school, Niña spent a lot of time drawing. Her afterschool activities were watching Bob Ross, Reading Rainbow and looking for adventures in the library.

About the Program:

  • Doors will open to registered attendees at 3pm.
  • All registered in person attendees will receive a free copy of the book while supplies last.
  • Street parking, ADA-accessible parking spot, and bike parking are available. There is a public parking garage nearby.
