Nitrous Oxide Analgesia

Course Summary:

This course will introduce the participant to the use of nitrous oxide conscious sedation to manage anxiety in patients. It is designed as an introduction for the dental professional with little background in the use of nitrous oxide and as a refresher for those with previous training. It is a basic course that presents background information and step-by-step procedures for nitrous oxide administration.

Meet the Speaker: R. Glenn Rosivack

Dr. R. Glenn Rosivack is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. He received both his D.M.D. and Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of Medicine and Dentistry-New Jersey Dental School. He is currently a Professor, Chair and Program Director of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. He has lectured extensively on a variety of topics in pediatric dentistry to national audiences. Dr. Rosivack is co-chairman of the Children’s Dental Health Month Committee of the Union County Dental Society and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry serving on their Council for Scientific Affairs. Dr. Rosivack maintained a private practice in Union, N.J. for 30 years and has been named one of “New Jersey’s Top Pediatric Dentists” by New Jersey Monthly Magazine.

Course Topics & Objectives: 

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

1. Have learned the history of nitrous oxide

2. Identify the planes of anesthesia and analgesia.

3. Understand the physiology of respiration

4. Be familiar with different types of nitrous oxide delivery systems.

5. Have reviewed clinical research.

6. Have learned the appropriate method of nitrous oxide administration.

7. Understand the indications and contraindications for nitrous oxide.

8. Have knowledge of safety and occupational hazard issues.

Exact email is necessary REGISTRATION CANCELLATION: Tuition is refundable if a course is canceled by  the Office of CE. A $50 fee will be assessed for any course  cancellation.  All payments by check or cash are deposited into the Texas A&M account  and CANNOT be refunded.  “No Shows” for a course  forfeit all tuition. Confirm notification of cancellation by e-mail. The CE Office cannot be held responsible for a  non-refundable airline ticket.
