Level: Advanced
When: Saturday, May 18, 2024
Time: 9:00am - 1:00pm
Location: SSF Training Center 4105 Royal Drive NW (Suite #600) Kennesaw, GA 30144
Through the Level 1 and Level 2 training classes from Nissens the information of Pressure relating to Temperature Diagnostics as well as best practices with R134a and R1234yf systems have come into place. But now the appearance of new refrigerants, chemicals, CO2 and the potential introduction of e new and approved refrigerant will come into play. Level 3 takes all these questions into mind as well as the introduction of the Heat Pump system. Is the primary to cool down the cabin and create climate comfort for the passenger? In general, it should be the same as a normal functioning AC system. But it is not! Can I use the same refrigerant as earlier? Can I replace R134a with R1234yf? Is R456a a valid option to replace R134a? Is it legal and which flammable classification does the new refrigerants have? Can I use the same oil for all refrigerant and is it backwards compatible?

Regarding Heat Pump systems the range of diagnostic capabilities have increased. The build up of the system differs complete from a standard AC system and the added new components and the number of each component Has to be acknowledged by the technician. The Heat Pump takes into consideration which flow of the refrigerant is most energy efficient which leads me back to the fact that the heating system could potentially have a minimum of four directions of the flow of the refrigerant. Without having the proper understanding of Pressure/ Temperature relation and the awareness of where the refrigerant is flowing it is impossible to diagnose the Heat Pump system properly.

There are a lot of questions and all of them will be answered along with service procedures for Hybrid and Electric vehicles that have a Heat Pump system. All of the service procedures, problem solving and issues that have been with previous Heat Pump systems are covered in this training class.
