Australian-born, Manchester-based jazz singer Nishla Smith is joined by Oslo-based British guitarist James Girling and Norwegian double bassist Andreas Svabø for Nishla’s debut concerts in Norway. Nishla’s trio welcome in the festive season with her “darkly gorgeous” original songs (Downbeat USA), threaded through with a selection of some of the 20th century’s best-loved jazz standards. Nishla is an artist driven by a desire to tell stories. She is a winner of the Peter Whittingham Jazz Award, International Songwriting Competition and UK Theatre Award, and an alumna of London Jazz Festival’s flagship Take Five programme. Her debut album, ‘Friends With Monsters’, was released on Whirlwind Recordings to critical acclaim.
