About this Event
Gallery MAR invites you to a new exhibition by Nina Tichava, an artist whose work navigates the rich terrain between nature and technology, structure and intuition, memory and material.
Raised between rural northern New Mexico and the urban landscape of the Bay Area, Tichava’s practice reflects the dualities that shaped her: the precision of a mathematician’s logic intertwined with the sensibility of an artist and designer. These intersections reveal themselves in paintings that balance the tactile with the conceptual, the handmade with the architectural.
Described by Tichava as “abstract painting with botanical and architectural references,” the pieces resonate with echoes of natural forms, branches, leaves, birds, as well as man-made structures, windows, and woven patterns. Each painting becomes a collection of moments from daily life: glimpses, memories, and textures woven into complex visual rhythms.
At once emotional, imperfect, and deeply physical, Tichava’s new body of work invites viewers into a space where materials interact, patterns emerge and dissolve, and the boundary between the organic and the constructed becomes beautifully blurred.
