Nina García (FR) comes to Stockholm and Fylkingen Bredäng to present her new LP: BYE BYE BIRD, released on Ideologic Organ. Support h waas (ES).
Since 2015, Nina García has been researching and creating around the electric guitar, halfway between improvised music and noise. Her set-up is reduced to a minimum: a guitar, a pedal, and an amp with which she sculpts sound and delves into chaos to bring out the unheard-of. Her concerts draw audiences into an immersive sonic space where power and fragility intersect with communicative intensity. In just a few years, she has attracted the attention of numerous international stages, and performed with Sophie Agnel, Méryll Ampe, Stephen O’Malley, Leïla Bordreuil, Antoine Chessex, and Fred Frith among others.
In 2020/2021, she was in residency at GRM for a commission for the Présences Électroniques festival.
h waas (Helga Juárez) is a composer, designer and visual artist. She began studying piano and accordion at the age of six, but soon left the conservatory to experiment self-taught with cymbals, drums and synthesizers. After being part of different musical initiatives in the Barcelona underground scene, she started her solo project h waas in 2015. In parallel, she develops graphic and audiovisual works from a non-narrative, intuitive perspective with aesthetics derived from abstract image and painting. She is currently responsible for the music programme El Lago at dublab BCN.
