THERE’S “VILLEINY” AFOOT!
The Queen Charlotte’s Villeins, Central Virginia’s newest regional Shakespeare troupe, is thrilled to launch NIGHTS of VILLEINY, a series of theatrical revues combining Shakespearean scene and monologue performance, as well as educational interludes. The First NIGHT of VILLEINY will debut on February 25, 2025, at the Stage at WTJU starting at 7pm.
A portion of the proceeds will be donated to provide relief to those affected by the recent fires in California.
The NIGHTS of VILLEINY are the backbone of the Queen Charlotte's VIlleins and their mission to bring accessible Shakespearean performance to the Charlottesville, Virginia community. Each revue is composed of bite-sized scenes and monologues from various Shakespeare works–comedies, tragedies, and histories–selected and crafted by the Villeins to provide audiences with brief, digestible bits of classical theatre entertainment. The variety of characters, stories, and themes on display will highlight the creativity and flexibility of each performer and their “Villein” persona, as well as the unbridled universality of the Bard’s works.
Each NIGHT of VILLEINY features a different selection of scenes, sometimes cultivated around a theme, sometimes selected at random.
