Gain the skills to create spectacular low-light photographs during this photography walking tour. Working alongside our experienced instructor, you'll learn essential techniques for creating vibrant low-light images that bring the nighttime landscape to life. Bring your tripod, your curiosity and get ready for some fun!
During this hands-on workshop, you'll shoot alongside your instructor to capture the dramatic cityscapes of San Francisco from the unique vantage point of the USS Hornet on Alameda's historic Naval Air Station.
Come early to draw inspiration from the diverse artistic perspectives showcased in our exhibition.
What You’ll Learn
- How to create light trails and motion effects with the use of long exposures
- Making use of artificial lights to highlight your subject during long exposures
- How to use the bulb mode setting and timed exposure settings to create better images
- Necessary and recommended equipment and accessories
What to Bring
- You can bring your camera, which allows manual settings, a fully charged battery, and memory cards.
- A Tripod is required, and manual shutter release is highly recommended.
- A spare battery is also recommended.
- Warm clothes as it can get cold on the base.
About Your Instructor: Leah Frink
Since 2001, Leah Frink has worked in the photographic industry as a photographer, salesman, and instructor. She has published several books on various topics, including Revisited, a documentary about the Rockabilly scene; a book about her band photography; and AW, a book about her black-and-white portrait series. She loves sharing her knowledge and passion for photography with others. She lives in Alameda and enjoys spending extra time with her godchildren, documenting their milestones.
