About this Event

Celebrate the launch of NIGHT TIME ECONOMY – the follow up to the Voce Books bestselling anthology ‘Digbeth Stories’ – with an evening of readings from some of the most exciting short form writers from across the West Midlands, hosted by Birmingham-based publishers FLOODGATE PRESS.

‘A fresh collection of superb stories about the night & all that it brings, from children’s bedtime, to shift work & the inevitable musings on love & life & death. Stuffed with talent & wonderful one-liners, this anthology is the best of the West Midlands & a showcase of who we are. I loved it...’ KIT DE WAAL

FLOODGATE PRESS are Birmingham based writers, Garrie Fletcher, Peter Haynes & Nigel Proctor. Fed up of moaning about the lack of a Birmingham-based, West Midlands focused prose publishers, Garrie, Peter & Nigel decided to do it themselves and created Floodgate. It was a slow process, but quality takes time. Floodgate’s first publication was ‘Digbeth Stories’.

‘A highly imaginative collection of brilliant stories that beautifully capture the unique elements of place. The result is a fascinating and inventive narrative journey through the West Midlands...’ KERRY HADLEY-PRYCE
