The Fellowship Programme 2023-2024 focuses on the theme Tool Sheds, investigating the development and application of research tools, instruments, formats and methods that could contribute to a society that supports all life. Researchers ‘inhabit’ the space of the Tool Sheds to test and share tools and applied methodologies, metaphorically or otherwise.

Nieuwe Instituut Fellowship
Since its foundation in 2013, Nieuwe Instituut’s fellowship programme has supported research in the fields of architecture, design and digital culture. Exhibitions, lectures, archival research and publications have served as outputs of research projects and, more importantly, as active platforms for their development. Intended as a means of supporting and learning from different research initiatives and methodologies, the Nieuwe Instituut Fellowship is ultimately an opportunity to rehearse other ways of thinking and doing.
