About this Event
The Winter Solstice is the time of year when the shortest period of sunlight occurs in the northern hemisphere. It is a time to recognize the darkness and settle into the Earth’s embrace, tucked into the layers of chill and dim, rising to hear and speak the stories of humanity. It is a time to huddle in the comfort of community, align our minds and hearts and spirits as the sun aligns with the earth.
The Winter Solstice also marks the beginning of the slow increase in sunlight, offering us the opportunity to reflect inward, discovering gratitude, turning toward a new season. As we celebrate the circular motion of the earth, the sun, and all the celestial beings, we mimic those circles in our own lives with light and celebration.
