GLOW, the Luminarium’s seasonal celebration of light, art, and science opens with a special adults-only Night Light! Meet Exhibiting GLOW Artists – Local artists Ken Hill, Lee Emma Running, and Buck Christensen will be onsite and near their exhibits ready to discuss their work. Guests can ask them questions about their process and artwork.
“Life in a Different Light” with Lauren Salick – Explore the fascinating world of bio-fluorescence in animals! Learn what bio-fluorescence is — including how certain organisms absorb and re-emit light, often in vibrant hues visible under UV light. We’ll dive into the surprising ways wildlife uses this phenomenon, from communication and camouflage to attracting mates and deterring predators. Discover which species, from marine creatures to Nebraska native animals, display these glowing traits and why scientists are still uncovering their mysteries.
Mercury Lounge(opens in a new tab) will be on site serving cocktails inspired by some of our light-themed exhibits. We’ll be marking the final weeks of the Luminarium x Mercury menu.
