Meet Emeritus Professor Don Bradshaw, one of WA’s foremost ecophysiologists, who will discuss the controversial issue of prescribed burning in WA’s forests. Contrary to DBCA’s current view, the latest research shows that prescribed burning actually stimulates growth of highly flammable understory, which increases, rather than decreases the probability of wildfire. Long-unburnt areas in banksia woodlands and forests are critical for the survival of many animals, including Honey Possums, quokkas and fairy wrens. Join us for what it sure to be a fascinating talk.5:30pm for refreshments. 6:00pm start
